There are times when life is packed with kids, weekends, errands, band practices and baseball, and lots more. You need cavernous space and plenty of power to get you through your work-hard-play-hard week. Luckily, there’s the 2020 Chevy Suburban. This mammoth of an SUV has a place for every kid, every bag, every box, and every hockey stick. And under the hood lies a powerhouse of an engine with more than enough to power through whatever life throws at you or wherever the path takes you.
Cavernous Cabin
Open up the back and you’ll find 39.3 cubic feet of storage space whenever you need it. Most minivans don’t have anything like that kind of behind-the-back-row space. But your eyes will widen when you see how quickly that number multiplies. Fold down the third row to find 76.7 cubes at your disposal. And if that’s not enough, fold down the second row and find yourself with a class-leading 121.7 cubes. That’s enough room to move most of a one-bedroom apartment in just a few trips.
But suppose you’re a person-hauler more than an item-mover. The Chevy Suburban has you covered there too. You can seat between seven and nine people, depending on configuration. The default is front bucket seats and two rows of seating. But you can either swap out the front seats for an additional row or swap the second row for captain’s chairs. Bucket and captain’s chairs are comfortable and wide, immediately putting us in the mind of a family road trip.
Eager Engines
The 2020 Suburban offers power when you need it. The base engine is a 5.3-liter V8 engine that delivers 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. This powerhouse is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. As you can glean from these numbers, you have plenty of power to get this metal moving. You can really bolster than momentum by upgrading to the 6.2-liter V8 engine that makes 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This optional engine comes with an improved 10-speed automatic transmission for quicker and more precise acceleration. Expect to pay an additional $20,000 or more for the upgraded engine though.
Tech and Safety
The 2020 Chevy Suburban starts at $50,800. But you get great value for your money. In addition to benefiting from the largest sport utility vehicle on the market, you also pick up this treasure-trove of standard features: cloth upholstery, 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat, six-way power-adjustable passenger seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, household-style power outlet, heated outside mirrors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, Teen Driver system, rearview camera, tri-zone automatic climate control, rear parking sensors, remote start, infotainment system with 8-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, voice recognition, USB ports, six-speaker stereo, satellite radio, HD Radio, and Wi-Fi hotspot.
