The next Jeep Wrangler is looking to bring you unbound adventure paired with optimum comfort in 2024. If you are just as excited as we are about Jeep’s next Wrangler, we’ve got all the details so far on what there is to expect. It looks like Jeep is taking all the best comfort features that we’ve come to love from this year’s trims, and packing them into a newly powerful off-road, all-inclusive machine, and we can’t wait.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Next year’s base Jeep Wrangler will have a starting price of around $31,800 - $33,700.
- The 2024 Wrangler features a collection of newly redesigned exterior elements and updated features.
- This new Wrangler refreshes what we’ve already come to expect and shows that Jeep is taking things seriously in the innovation department.
UPDATED POWERTRAINS WITH A FOCUS ON DIVERSITY
The upcoming Wrangler now offers multiple power trains to choose from. The plug-in hybrid powertrain is now offered on more trims, the Sport and Rubicon X trims to be specific, which grants greater fuel savings across the entire lineup. Hybrid models will also be sporting an upgraded 3.6-kilowatt battery which helps run all the other added features the higher trim represents. All the 2024 Wranglers powertrain options are as follows:
- 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 with 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque
- 3.6-liter V6 with 285-hp and 260-lb-ft of torque
- 6.4-liter V8 with 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque
- 2.0-liter I-4 with 270 hp and 165 b-ft of torque
The turbocharged engine is an option and has an electric motor for additional power. The V6 can also be equipped with a plug-in hybrid or the V8. The Wrangler powertrain is more customizable than ever, and with the option for a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic across the standard engine, the off-road experience that is in store for next year is fully in our control.
GAS AND FUEL ECONOMY
The optional 17.0-kWh battery is said to provide 25 miles of electric-only driving, which Jeep said is equivalent to a few hours of low-speed off-roading. When it’s out, the gas engine kicks in and you’re on your way without a bump. Gas is pretty much the same as what we are used to when it comes to the Wrangler. For the V6, the EPA estimates a fuel rating of 23 mpg on the highway, whereas the turbocharged hybrid model can get around 26 on the highway.
UPCOMING FEATURES
The upgrades for the Wrangler start to shine on the interior. There is a new Uconnect 5 system on the inside with an upgraded 12.3-inch screen, thanks to more dash being freed up by the center vents redesign. The larger screen is much better for viewing trails and is easier to read in general. Jeep has also now partnered with Trails OffRoad to offer divers 62 trails preloaded, with a subscription unlocking over 3,000 on the Wrangler.
The Uconnect 5 system provides all the information you need about your Wrangler with just an easy click, providing detailed screens on everything from vehicle dynamics to pitch & roll statistics. Continuing with the hands-free feel, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are now offered in the upcoming model. Jeep will also add more speakers and microphones and increase the sound dampening effect to make calling others or listening to music a better experience while flying down the trail or the road. Along with the removable top and doors, The Wrangler will now feature 12-way power-adjusting seats on the top-tier trims. Speaking of trims, the newest to join the lineup is the Sport 4xe and the Rubicon X which offer a mid-tier upgrade and a more expensive experience respectively.
