The smallest member of the Jeep family is the subcompact Jeep Compass. Measuring less than fourteen and a half feet from grille to bumper, the Compass is more than meets the eye. Being a Jeep, despite its small size, the Compass is an expert off-roader. We also like its convenient cargo features, its intuitive and speedy infotainment system, and more. In this preview guide, we’ll show you what is new for the 2020 Jeep Compass even while we discuss what has been good about this subcompact from the beginning.
What’s New for 2020?
The Compass got safer this year. For one thing, the optional Safety and Security and Advanced Safety packages are now available in the base trim. The former package includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and more. Meanwhile, the latter package includes adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beams, forward-collision warning, leather steering wheel, and more. Beyond that, a few upper trims can now come with optional Luxury Seat package that throws in a power-adjustable driver's seat, memory driver's seat, and ventilated front seats. You can also get an Alpine system. Finally, Velvet Red Pearl Coat is added to the list of available colors this year.
Convenient Cargo
While there’s not much to boast about in terms of overall cargo capacity on the Compass--it offers 27.2 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 59.8 cubes with the back row folded down--there’s plenty of convenience features built in that are worthy of praise. The cargo space benefits from a wide mouth, rear-mounted tie-downs, and compartments throughout the cabin and even under the cargo floor. The front-passenger seat also folds down, giving you room for long items like standing lamps or surfboards. To top it all off, there’s an optional power liftgate that opens and closes automatically. If that’s not enough cargo room, there’s always the option to add a trailer of up to 2,000 pounds.

Intuitive Infotainment
Hands down, Jeep knows how to do infotainment right. The 2020 Compass boasts the UConnect infotainment system. The layout and menus are intuitive and customizable on its 7-inch touchscreen. Smartphone integration in the form of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard on all Compass models. And as soon as you sit down, it’s easy to tell that all the physical knobs and buttons are within comfortable reach. You can upgrade to an 8.4-inch touchscreen with navigation system and a nine-speaker Alpine audio system by checking a few extra boxes.

If you want those extra safety features, off-roading chops, a convenient cargo hold, and one of the best infotainment systems on the market, get yourself to a Jeep dealership and ask to test drive the 2020 Jeep Compass.
